The project

We’re thrilled that 26 Treasures keeps on growing, like our very own child. Young but daily growing. After opening with the V&A last year, exhibitions and new versions of 26 Treasures are taking place this year in Wales, Ulster and Scotland. And now, in another leap of imagination we’re reverting to childhood.
We’ve just agreed that a new 26 Treasures will be part of an exhibition called “Modern British Childhood” at the V&A’s Museum of Childhood, Bethnal Green, London in October 2012. The writers will be from 26 with five guest writers – famous names from the world of children’s books. The project will also involve the wonderful Ministry of Stories.
We’ll be sending out details of the project soon by email to all members. If you want to take part, you won’t have long to respond and we’re expecting that we’ll have more volunteers than we’ll have places. We might need a tie-breaker. Perhaps something along the lines of: What’s your most precious toy/object from your own childhood? And perhaps, as the exhibition will cover the years from 1948 to the present day – what’s your year of birth, so we can get the widest coverage of the period?
